Welcome to Bhagavad Gita for the creative soul.
This is episode 15, functioning without a BC that is anxiety, bitterness, or chaos and Saurin. Figuring out how to create a worry-free regretless clear minded existence
00:01:21 Saurin
Did you know that each time the past, the present and the future walk into a bar, everything gets intense?
00:01:30 Saurin
Jokes apart, my mind is like that bar the past and future are forever visiting, and I'm the one forever tensed.
00:01:39 Saurin
As Simon Hess says in the Book of Dharma.
00:01:42 Saurin
Fear, lamentation, and confusion, the 3 types of suffering associated with time.
00:01:50 Saurin
Fear is suffering associated with the future, lamentation with the past and confusion with the present.
00:01:58 Saurin
Now usually we run towards pleasure and away from pain.
00:02:03 Saurin
But my mind does not seem to have gotten that memo.
00:02:06 Speaker 3
It is bitter about the opportunities I've missed and anxious about where I'm headed in life.
00:02:12 Saurin
And even when I get it into the now.
00:02:15 Saurin
It's a chaotic mess that leaves me exhausted and overwhelmed and I'm not alone.
00:02:22 Saurin
The Srimad Bhagavatam states in Canto 11 chapter 23 verse 42.
These people are not the cause of happiness or sorrow neither are the demigods. The body, the planets past action or time.
Instead, it is the mind alone that is the chief cause and which keeps revolving the wheel of samsara. The cycle of life, death and rebirth.
00:02:50 Saurin
So how do I deal with the mind that's forever going round and round and is always anxious, better and chaotic?
00:02:58 Saurin
Here's what the Bhagavad Gita has to say.
00:03:08 Sheetal
uddhared ātmanātmānaṃ nātmānam avasādayet |
ātmaiva hy ātmano bandhur ātmaiva ripur ātmanaḥ ||
Chapter 6, verse 51
One should elevate oneself by their own efforts and resist degradation.
00:03:35 Sheetal
For the mind is a friend of the self.
00:03:38 Sheetal
And the mind is an enemy of the self.
00:03:44 Saurin
But what does it mean?
00:03:45 Saurin
This elevating oneself, this knowing of the higher self.
00:03:50 Saurin
How do I ensure my mind is a friend, not an enemy?
00:03:54 Saurin
How do I learn from the past without staying better work for the future without any anxiety and be clear in the now?
00:04:03 Saurin
In episode 2, creating without attachments, one of my actionable was to keep in the present moment by applying Eckhart Tolle 's power of now.
00:04:14 Saurin
3 months hence. I'm here to tell you that doing so is tougher than it seems. Not that you needed me to tell you that.
00:04:22 Saurin
However, a few action steps are working better than the others. For instance, begin and end my day with something inspiring and life of warming.
00:04:33 Saurin
Limit my exposure to news or information that causes worry and confusion.
Simplify my life by eliminating or reducing task that do not add value to my purpose-driven goals.
00:04:47 Saurin
Focus on what is possible now.
00:04:50 Saurin
Learn from my mistakes, but stop dwelling on them.
00:04:55 Saurin
Give myself the space to grow as self awareness and transformation needs patience and persistence.
00:05:02 Saurin
Reach out more often for support, be it from mentors, family or friends.
00:05:09 Saurin
Be grateful for what has been what is and what will be.
00:05:14 Saurin
Everything that happens happens for a reason, whether I know and understand or do not.
00:05:21 Saurin
And finally, keep forgiving myself for being anxious.
00:05:26 Saurin
How will we know if these will work? Check in with me on these 3 months hence.
00:05:32 Saurin
